When children are comfortable enough with reading to move into beginning chapter books (after beginning readers), you will find these books a great place to start. Children in this stage do especially well with series books. The familiar plots and characters allow them to build speed and confidence in their reading. Most children transition to beginning chapter books in second or third grade.
