Meeting Rooms

The Anchorage Public Library (APL) meeting rooms and Wilda Marston Theater (Theater) are available to non-profit, for profit, and community organizations seeking to hold meetings, trainings, presentations, workshops, recitals and other events. All activities held in APL meeting rooms must comply with the Anchorage Public Library Facility Use Policy, Anchorage Public Library Code of Conduct, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Room requirement needs of Municipal Offices and the Anchorage Public Library take precedence over outside user groups.

All meeting rooms and Theater reservations are fee based. Food is allowed in designated areas only.

Users of APL meeting rooms shall be required to indemnify and hold harmless the Library from any and all claims or actions attributable to the use of the Library facilities. 

The Director of the Library, or designee, will be responsible for implementing this policy.  Exemptions from these policies may be made by the Director.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reserve a room?
Non-profit, for profit and community organizations may reserve rooms up to one full year for the next calendar year when booked after October 1.

Reservation requests are made through the Library’s website a minimum of 2 weeks in advance of the event. Room use will be confirmed based on availability by the Facility Use Coordinator within 24-hours or the next business day of receipt of the customer's official request.

Individuals or organizations wishing to reserve a room within 72-hours prior to an event must reserve the room in person. Contact 907.343.2906 or Email: APLRooms@muni.org

Customers are directed to use the Library website, www.anchoragelibrary.org. For assistance with using the reservations website contact 907.343.2906 or Telephone Reference at 907.343.2975.

How often can I book a Library Meeting Room?
You may book a Library meeting space as many times as availability allows at Loussac or any of the branch locations.

How far in advance can I reserve a Meeting Room?
Reservations can be made up to one year within the same calendar year beginning October 1 of the previous year. 

Can I reserve a room for a study group?
Yes. All meeting rooms are fee based except for Chugiak-Eagle River Branch which has 3 free study rooms which are available on a walk-in, first come, first served basis.

I want to make a reservation online, but there are no check boxes to select my times. What is wrong?
Online reservations will only validate reservations requested outside the minimum of 72-hours prior to the event. If your event booking is within 72 hours, call 907.343.2906 and you will be required to book the room in person. The system also will not allow you to reserve a room beyond the current calendar year, until October 1..

Can I sell products or charge people to come to an event held at the library?
Renters of APL meeting spaces may charge for event attendees and sell goods and services within the meeting space.

Do I have to pay to use a meeting room?
Yes. Each room has a specific cost attached to it for profit and non-profit use.

Can I bring food to my meeting?
Yes, food is allowed in designated rooms only (see the individual room requirements). It is the responsibility of the renter to leave the room as clean as they found it. Users who negelct to cleanup after use may be charged a cleaning fee and may lose renting privilieges.  If you have questions, contact the Facility Use Coordinator at 907.343.2906.

Can I have a wedding or baby shower in the library?
Yes. Celebratory events are allowed in designated library locations.

Can I begin my meeting before the library opens or end it after the library is closed?
Yes. This type of request will require additional charges to hire security staff. The request for additional security must be coordinated between the user and the Municipal contracted security company.  Reservations requiring security will be confirmed once security has been scheduled by the renter.

Can I rent a meeting room on a Municipal Holiday or a day the library is closed?
Yes. This type of request will require additional charges for security staff. Requests must be made at least 30 days in advance of the event and approved by the Library Director.

What if I have to cancel my confirmed reservation?
For a full refund, written or email cancellation is required and must be received no later than 30 calendar days prior to the scheduled event.

May I hang things on meeting room walls?
Only painters tape and sticky back 3M flip chart sheets are allowed to be attached to the walls.

I want to advertise my event. What is the correct way to advertise the meeting location?

Capacity:  200

Rates:  $175 per hour rental rate  -  $150 Non-profit rate  - Minimum 2-hour rental

Amenities:  Lounge setting, scenic views, great for small gathering, full kitchen and Wi-Fi 

Z.J. Loussac Public Library – Wilda Marston Theater The Wilda Marston Theater at Loussac Library is available to the community for lectures, live music, community forums, film festivals, small theatrical play productions, recitals, dance performances, literary readings, debates, and other creative uses.
LL Wilda Marston Theatre

Wilda Marston Theater (WMT)

Capacity:  232 – Or 211 plus wheelchair accessible areas.

Rate:  $110 per hour rental rate  - Minimum 2-hour rental

Amenities:   On stage hookup for laptops, DVDs, projector, drop-down screen, piano, wireless, lapel and hardwire microphones, piano and Wi-Fi. Basic lighting and sound system. Video-conferencing capability.

Other:  Area for personal sound board hookup

Reservation Requirements
To access theater audio and visual control area requires an approved technician at user’s expense.  To utilize Video-conferencing, renter must contract with a local vendor.

Amenities:  White board, ceiling projector, Wall-mounted projector screen, ceiling-mounted speakers, DVD/Blu-ray player, CD player/radio receiver, Wireless microphone w/ receiver, data port and Wi-Fi,  14 folding tables, 80 chairs,  lectern, small kitchenette with sink and small refrigerator. Restrooms are just outside the room entrance. Teleconferencing capability.

Note: Restrooms are in the mall, outside of the library. No food allowed. Covered drinks permissable. Hours of use are limited due to mall access.
